“I’ve got over 30 miles of dirt/gravel roads on my ranch.  I have thousands of mesquite trees, and I’m in the process of eliminating those.  At this time, that means that I have a lot of mesquite limbs and stumps that are a hazard to any and all tires.  Add to that the unlimited supply of sharp flint rocks, and you have a challenging E-Bike environment.

The two bikes I have are identical, except one is blue and the other is black. The blue bike has prototype liners. The black bike has industry-leading foam liners; it also has a popular tire sealant in the front tire, but not the back tire.

I had two riders ride each bike for about an hour. I specifically asked them to intentionally ride over small mesquite sprouts, and through areas that had lots of mesquite downed limbs and thorns.  Neither rider could feel any difference between the 2 bikes.  

After completing the test, some of which we caught on video, the bike with the Mesquite Proof Tire Liners had no sign of any tire damage or air loss.  

I waited a couple of days and checked pressure to confirm that there was no air loss.  I had set all tires to 10 psi for the test. The black bike got a flat tire after each of the 2 sessions.  Each flat was caused by a mesquite thorn. Neither sealant nor the foam liner helped in any way, which was the case for the previous 20 flats I’ve had.
